Arthur K. Wheelock Jr.
Curator of Northern Baroque Paintings at
the National Gallery of Art Washington and professor of art history
at the University of Maryland. A researcher on 17th century Dutch
Art History, Dr. Wheelock focuses mainly on perspective employed
within Dutch architectural paintings , landscape paintings, and
genre paintings, Vermeer and his contemporary painters of the
Delft School, and paintings of the Rembrandt School. Dr. Wheelock
and his colleagues from the Mauritshuis jointly organized the
historical "Johannes Vermeer " Exhibition held in the
Hague and Washington from 1995-1996. Dr. Wheelock is organizer
for the forthcoming Exhibition "The
Public and the Private in the Age of Vermeer."
